Creating a Stack

You can use RTS to orchestrate and deploy complex services.

You are allowed to create up to 100 stacks, each of which contains up to 1000 resources.

Editing or Uploading a Template

  • For a single template, you can create stacks by editing a template online.

    1. Template Source: Select Manually specify.
    2. Template Content: Enter the template content online or copy the content from the prepared template file.
    3. Click Next to check the syntax.

      If checking syntax is successful, go to Specify Stack Details page. If checking syntax is failed, modify the template file based on the system prompts.

  • For a single template or nested template, you can upload the template to the RTS console to create stacks.

    1. Template Source: Select Upload template.
    2. Stack Template: Click , select the prepared template package, and click Upload.
    3. Main File: A template package may contain several template files, you need to choose one template file as the main file based on resources to be created.
    4. Click Next to check the syntax.

      If checking syntax is successful, go to Specify Stack Details page. If checking syntax is failed, modify the template file based on the system prompts.

Specifying Stack Details

Parameters to be entered contain Stack Name and Parameters. You can define the former based on the stack to be used. The latter are specified in the template file and you need to modify them based on actual situations.

NOTE:

Stack name constraints:

  • The length must contain between 1 to 255 characters.
  • The name must begain with a uppercase or lowercase letter.
  • The name can include digits, hyphens (-), and underscores (_).

Confirming the Information

Confirm the entered information. If the information is incorrect, go to the previous step to modify. If the information is correct, go to the next step.

Finishing Stack Creation

After confirming information, submit the creation task. You can view the result on the Stack Management page.

You can also see the detailed status of the stack by viewing the Events. On the stack details page, click Events tab. The tab below shows each important step in the stack creation process (in the chronological order of each event, with the most recent event at the top).
