Changing a DB Instance Name

Scenarios

This section describes how to change the name of a primary DB instance or read replica.

Changing a Primary DB Instance Name

Method 1:

  1. Log in to the management console.
  2. Click in the upper left corner and select a region and a project.
  3. Click Service List. Under Database, click Relational Database Service to go to the RDS console.
  4. On the Instance Management page, move the mouse pointer over the target primary DB instance and click next to it to change the DB instance name.
  5. In the displayed text box, enter the new DB instance name. To submit the change, click OK. To cancel the change, click Cancel.

    The DB instance name must start with a letter and consist of 4 to 64 characters. Only uppercase letters, lowercase letters, digits, hyphens (-), and underscores (_).

  6. View the change result in the DB instance list on the Instance Management page or on the Basic Information page of the target DB instance.

Method 2:

  1. Log in to the management console.
  2. Click in the upper left corner and select a region and a project.
  3. Click Service List. Under Database, click Relational Database Service to go to the RDS console.
  4. On the Instance Management page, click the target DB instance. The Basic Information tab is displayed.
  5. In the Instance Information area on the Basic Information tab, click in the DB Instance Name field to change the DB instance name.

    The DB instance name must start with a letter and consist of 4 to 64 characters. Only uppercase letters, lowercase letters, digits, hyphens (-), and underscores (_).

    • To submit the change, click .
    • To cancel the change, click .

  6. View the change result in the DB instance list on the Instance Management page or on the Basic Information page of the target DB instance.

Changing a Read Replica Name

Method 1:

  1. Log in to the management console.
  2. Click in the upper left corner and select a region and a project.
  3. Click Service List. Under Database, click Relational Database Service to go to the RDS console.
  4. On the Instance Management page, click in front of the DB instance to which the target read replica belongs. Then, move the mouse pointer over the target read replica and click to change the read replica name.
  5. In the displayed text box, enter the new read replica name. To submit the change, click OK. To cancel the change, click Cancel.

    The DB instance name must start with a letter and consist of 4 to 64 characters. Only uppercase letters, lowercase letters, digits, hyphens (-), and underscores (_).

  6. View the change result in the DB instance list on the Instance Management page or on the Basic Information page of the target read replica.

Method 2:

  1. Log in to the management console.
  2. Click in the upper left corner and select a region and a project.
  3. Click Service List. Under Database, click Relational Database Service to go to the RDS console.
  4. On the Instance Management page, click the target read replica. The Basic Information tab is displayed.
  5. In the Instance Information area on the Basic Information tab, click in the DB Instance Name field to change the read replica name.

    The DB instance name must start with a letter and consist of 4 to 64 characters. Only uppercase letters, lowercase letters, digits, hyphens (-), and underscores (_).

    • To submit the change, click .
    • To cancel the change, click .

  6. View the change result in the DB instance list on the Instance Management page or on the Basic Information page of the target read replica.
