Product Function Comparison

The basic edition uses the architecture of a single database node. In contrast to the mainstream primary/standby high-availability edition, the basic edition contains only one node and has no slave node for fault recovery.

Advantage Comparison

  • Basic edition: supports the creation of read replicas (except for Microsoft SQL Server) and error or slow query log queries. Compared with the high-availability edition, the basic edition has less than one database node, reducing your cost. As a result, restoration after node failure on the basic edition will take a long time. Therefore, the basic edition is not recommended for sensitive services that have high requirements on database availability.
  • High-availability edition: The salve database node is used only for failover and restoration. It does not provide services and incurs performance costs. The performance of the basic edition is similar to or even higher than the high-availability edition.

Restrictions

The basic edition does not support the following functions:

  • Primary/standby switchover
  • Switching AZs
