CCE provides an optimal operating environment for containers and enables you to build complex containerized applications.

This section uses the Guestbook application as an example to describe how to create a containerized application from a component template.

Guestbook is an application that allows visitors of a website to leave public comments. To leave a public comment, type the comment in the input box of Guestbook and click Submit. Then, your comment is displayed.

Figure 1 Guestbook

As shown in Figure 2, the Guestbook application consists of three components and each component runs in a separate container:

  • Frontend

    This component stores code logic.

  • Redis_master and Redis_slave

The two components work in master/slave mode to store user messages.

Figure 3 shows how to create a containerized application on the CCE console.

Figure 3 Create a containerized application

The general procedure for creating a containerized application is as follows:

  1. Create a container cluster.
  2. Compile application code and build container images of the application.
  3. Upload container images to the private container registry.
  4. Create a component template.

Use component templates to create common components shared by different applications.

  5. Create an application using the template created in 4.

Sections Creating a Container Cluster through Creating a Containerized Application explain every step in detail.
