Deleting a Private Container Image

You can delete a private container image that has been uploaded.

Each Docker image is usually composed of layers. After an image is deleted from a container registry, files at certain layers of the image may be preserved in the container registry for future use. These preserved files are called residual image files. If the container image you will upload contains residual files, the container registry prompts you that these files already exist and do not need to be uploaded again.

For more information on how to delete residual image files, see Deleting Residual Private Image Files.

Deleted private container images cannot be restored.

  1. In the navigation pane of the CCE console, choose Container Registry.
  2. On the Container Registry page, click Delete in the same row as the container image you will delete.
  3. In the Delete Container Image dialog box, click OK to confirm that you want to proceed with the deletion.
