Performing Lifecycle Management Operations on a BMS

BMS life cycle management operations include starting, stopping, restarting, and deleting BMSs.

  1. Log in to the management console.
  2. Click in the upper left corner and select the desired region and project.
  3. Under Computing, click Bare Metal Server.

    The BMS console is displayed.

  4. In the upper right corner of the BMS list, enter the name, private IP address, ID, or flavor of the BMS and click .
  5. Select the BMS and click Start, Stop, Restart, or Delete in the upper left corner of the BMS list. The BMS status will change.

Status

Status Attribute

Description

Creating

Intermediate state

A BMS is in this state after you apply for the BMS and before the BMS enters the running state.

If the BMS keeps in this state for a long period of time, exceptions occur. Contact the administrator to handle the exceptions.

Starting

Intermediate state

A BMS is in this state when the BMS is in an intermediate state between Stopped and Running.

If the BMS keeps in this state for a long period of time, exceptions occur. Contact the administrator to handle the exceptions.

Running

Stable state

A BMS is in this state when the BMS is running properly.

A BMS in this state can provide services for you.

Stopping

Intermediate state

A BMS is in this state when the BMS is in an intermediate state between Running and Stopped.

If the BMS keeps in this state for a long period of time, exceptions occur. Contact the administrator to handle the exceptions.

Stopped

Stable state

A BMS is in this state after the BMS is correctly stopped.

A BMS in this state cannot provide services.

Restarting

Intermediate state

A BMS is in this state when the BMS is being restarted.

If the BMS keeps in this state for a long period of time, exceptions occur. Contact the administrator to handle the exceptions.

Deleting

Intermediate state

A BMS is in this state when the BMS is being deleted.

If the BMS keeps in this state for a long period of time, exceptions occur. Contact the administrator to handle the exceptions.

Deleted

Intermediate state

A BMS is in this state after the BMS is correctly deleted. A BMS in this state cannot provide services and will be removed from the system in a short time.

Faulty

Stable state

A BMS is in this state when an exception occurs on the BMS.

A BMS in this state cannot provide services. Contact the administrator to rectify the fault.
