A Bucket or Object Whose Name Contains a Period (.) Fails to Be Accessed Through HTTPS

Symptom

S3cmd fails to access a bucket or object whose name contains a period (.) through HTTPS.

Possible Causes

When sending messages to OBS through HTTPS, S3cmd downloads and verifies the OBS certificate.

Fault Diagnosis

None

Procedure

Avoid the certificate verification failure using either of the following methods.

  • Modify the .s3cfg configuration file by setting the value of the check_ssl_certificate parameter to False. After that, the certificate verification operation will be skipped.
  • Modify the .s3cfg configuration file by setting the host_bucket parameter to be blank. After that, the messages sent by S3cmd to OBS carry bucket names in the form of paths. Therefore, bucket names will not be checked during certificate verification.

For details about how to modify the .s3cfg configuration file, see section Modifying the Configuration File.
