S3cmd is an open-source, free, and easy-to-use command line tool written in Python for uploading, retrieving, and managing data in Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3) and other cloud storage providers that use the S3 protocol. It is best suited for users familiar with command line. It is also ideal for batch processing and automated tasks.
You can use S3cmd to access Object Storage Service (OBS) except for using the official clients provided by OBS. With S3cmd you can upload, download, delete, and set permissions for OBS buckets and objects. S3cmd is applicable to both Linux and MAC operating systems.
This document uses S3cmd 1.6.1 as an example to describe how to use S3cmd on SUSE Linux. S3cmd is compatible with most OBS application programming interfaces (APIs). This document provides an interoperability matrix and command use cases for your reference. For details, see Interoperability Matrix. If procedures of upgrading S3cmd provided in this document do not suit your needs, visit the S3cmd official website (http://s3tools.org/usage) for more instructions.
