Creating a Network and Subnet

Scenarios

To ensure proper communication between ECSs in an SAP HANA system, create a subnet for the ECSs.

SAP HANA Studio and the NAT server are deployed on the public network. You need to create a public network for tenants to communicate with SAP HAHA Studio and the NAT server.

Procedure

  1. Run the following command to create a network:

    heat --insecure stack-create -f SAP-HANA-Resource-Network.template saphana-network

  2. Run the following command to check whether the stack has been successfully created and record the network ID:

    heat --insecure stack-show saphana-network
    • If the value of stack_status is CREATE_COMPLETE, the stack is successfully created.
    • The value of output_value in the outputs field is the network ID.

  3. Run the following command to create a subnet associated to the VPC:

    In the command, network_id is the network ID you queried in Step 2, and vpc_id is the VPC ID you queried in section Creating a VPC. You need to specify the CIDR (cidr), IP address of the internal DNS server (dns_server_one), and IP address of the external DNS server (dns_server_two) based on actual configurations.

    heat --insecure stack-create -f SAP-HANA-Resource-Subnet.template -P "network_id=24879c3d-5f71-46ce-86ec-7a12f78c5775;vpc_id=e032066e-8405-4320-ac65-85f3b34c3d0a;cidr=10.0.3.0/24;dns_server_one=100.125.4.26;dns_server_two=8.8.8.8" saphana-subnet

  4. Run the following command to check whether the stack has been successfully created and record the subnet ID:

    heat --insecure stack-show saphana-subnet

    • If the value of stack_status is CREATE_COMPLETE, the stack is successfully created.
    • The value of output_value in the outputs field is the subnet ID.
