Application Scenarios

The ECS service allows you to obtain public cloud-based VM resources within minutes. These resources are elastic and can be scaled up or down based on your requirements, and they are available worldwide over the Internet. As such, you can rent required computing and storage resources cost-effectively. This significantly reduces hardware costs and relieves you from non-service concerns, such as server capabilities and EVS disk capacity.

General-purpose ECSs

  • Applications

    Web servers, development and test environments, and small-scale databases

  • Characteristics

    The applications have no special requirements on vCPUs, memory, disk capacity, and bandwidth, but have high requirements on security and reliability. Users require low initial investment and maintenance costs.

  • Application scenarios

    Enterprise website deployment, enterprise OA environment setup, and development and test activities

Memory-optimized ECSs

  • Applications

    Relational databases, NoSQL databases, and memory data analysis

  • Characteristics

    The applications require large and optimized memory.

    Big data analysis for precision marketing, e-commerce, and IoV

Large-Memory ECSs

  • Applications

    SAP HANA applications, such as Business Suite S/4HANA, Business Suite on HANA, and Business Warehouse on HANA, and big data processing, such as Apache Spark

  • Characteristics

    The applications are for large-scale, enterprise-class, in-memory applications, process large volumes of data, and require rapid data switching, processing and low latency storage resource.

    Scientific computing

  • Characteristics

    The applications require a large number of parallel computing resources and high-performance infrastructure services to meet computing and storage requirements and ensure high rendering efficiency.

    Computing and storage systems for genetic engineering, games, animations, and biopharmaceuticals

GPU-optimized ECSs

  • Applications

    Workload and general-purpose GPU computing

  • Characteristics

    The applications have high requirements on graphics processing, require large memory and rapid data switching and processing, and process large volumes of data.

Disk-intensive ECSs
