Changing a DB Instance Name

This section describes how to change a DB instance name to identify different DB instances.

Method 1

  1. Log in to the DDS console.

  2. On the Instance Management page, hover the mouse over the DDS instance name you wish to change and click the icon image1 that is displayed next to the DB instance.

    • If you want to submit the change, click OK. The DB instance name can be 4 to 64 characters long. It must start with a letter and can contain only uppercase letters, lowercase letters, digits, hyphens (-), and underscores (_).

    • If you want to cancel the change, click Cancel.

  3. View the change result on the Instance Management page.

Method 2

  1. Log in to the DDS console.

  2. On the Instance Management page, click the target DB instance.

  3. In the DB Information area on the Basic Information page, click image2 in the DB Instance Name field to change the instance name.

    • To submit the change, click image3. The DB instance name can be 4 to 64 characters long. It must start with a letter and can contain only uppercase letters, lowercase letters, digits, hyphens (-), and underscores (_).

    • To cancel the change, click image4.

  4. View the results on the Instance Management page.
